Looks like when all the other movies released this diwali are long gone, polladhavan will be still in the race. This movie has turned out to be the dark horse this deepavali. Directed by Vettrimaran, Dhanush’s Polladhavan has Kuthu fame Ramya (nows Divya) in the female lead.With the success of ‘Polladhavan’ ‘Kuthu’ Ramya aka Divya should be on the moon. But the lady seems to be a bit angry.
Even though she has been flooded with lots of offers from both Tamil and Kannada cinema’s, there are no offers from Telugu for her. When asked about it, she burst out angrily saying that she is not intrested in offers from Telugu. Later when she cools down a little she adds that her first 2 movies in Telugu did not do well and hence the lack of offers from Tollywood.Discussing this she says that there is a lot of sentiment followed there and importance of good talent has gone down. Tamil Industry is more tolerant and have given her immense encouragement even though her first 2 movies in Tamil also did not do well.
The movie is getting praises on all sides. Danush’s father-in-law Rajinikanth was all praises for the entire crew of Polladhavan.Andhra megastar Chiranjeevi and his elder daughter Sushmita saw the film screened at a Chennai Preview theatre and is said to have raved about it. He may purchase the Telugu remake rights for his son Ramcharan Teja.
Polladhavan is emerging as the front runner in Chennai city, Chengalpet (part of NSC area) and Coimbatore. It is expected to pick up in Madurai, Salem and TK after Diwali.At present Divya is busy shooting for Gautham Menon’s ‘Varanam Aayiram’ opposite Surya. She is also eagerly waiting for the release of her ‘Thoondil’ for which she has donned a downbeat role. This actress has also signed a Kannada film with Prabhu Deva where she will be spotted in the role of a commercial sex-worker. Ace cameraman and director Santosh Sivan will direct this film.
Looks like her name change has worked out in Tamil and Kannada. It is yet to workout in Telugu. Patience pays…
